The Du Rag Series

Not for them x Myartisreal

Concept: “As a black artist, I’ve always found it funny when the black culture gets appropriated. There are 1000s of paintings at the Met Museum that we may never see and will never own, and these images are free to the public. So we wanted to make a series of 100 NFTs bringing these old paintings to our current times (appropriate them into black culture) and give you the chance to finally own a painting from the Met Museum.” – Marcarson

Important Info: Each NFT is one of one. It will also come with a physical object, an 18 x 24 inch print on canvas, that is signed, numbered, and marked with the ‘Not For Them’ Seal. Each print will be printed by Not for Them and shipped from his studio.

How to Purchase: Simply follow the link below to the work you would like and purchase the NFT on OpenSea. Once you have made the purchase send us an email with your physical address so we can ship your print as well as your wallet address you used to buy the NFT. info@myartisreal.com

NOT FOR THEM / Marcarson

Marcarson is an American painter, textile artist, and photographer whose works have been exhibited in both solo and group events in the United States. In addition, his art is featured in the Queens Museum’s permanent collection. Social and cultural commentary is part of Marcarson’s main themes and messages, which he classifies as ‘avant-garde comedy’. He creates using oils, watercolors, and pigments on canvas and paper. In 2016, Marcarson opened NOT FOR THEM, an art-house/concept gallery of his own works in NYC, right behind MoMA PS1, which quickly gained recognition among artists and collectors. Marcarson’s work has an avant-garde comedy, tongue in cheek approach to exploring cultural references and self-experiences. He has worked with countless brands, institutions, and agencies; He collaborated with media outlets such as the magazine HighSnobiety or Boiler Room; in 2019, Marc Jacobs commissioned his artwork & vision for their perfume “Daisy”.
