Artist Statement: “I paint the figure using photographic reference materials that have often been collaged or reassembled. The details inherent in these materials are essential to making a convincing picture, but tend to become distorted or else deleted altogether over the course of various false starts, mistakes and revisions. The mercurial nature of this manner of painting is often a road to disaster – but occasionally, it will produce an unexpected moment of clarity that otherwise would never exist.”
