Alex Kuno

Artist Bio: Alex Kuno is a full-time artist and illustrator living and working in Lowertown, Saint Paul, Minnesota. Kuno’s surreal anatomical illustrations are a direct and intimate response to the incessant unveiling of political, cultural and environmental mutations. Partly inspired by vintage medical and botanical illustrations, the characters that have populated his work for years now are seen going through their own sudden, peculiar changes. The characters are in a state of flux; what caused these changes and what their final forms will be are mysteries, but we’re allowed for a moment to pause and appreciate the absurdities of the present state of things.
