About US

Myartisreal is an online gallery and independent publisher of contemporary art content. Through our online shows, podcast, articles, and other content we set out to bridge the gap between viewer and artist through meaningful stories.

Our Mission

Founded in 2016 as nothing more than an Instagram page for Jacob to share his love of art Myartisreal quickly grew its following. Since the beginning, Jacob wanted to build a platform to help artists reach a wider audience and to tell their stories. Currently, Myartisreal is completely run by Jacob who spends each day working to provide meaningful content to the art community through his curated exhibitions, art podcasts, art blogs, and social media accounts.

Myartisreal operates on what we call the three pillars. These pillars allow us to provide art lovers with entertaining content and beautiful works to collect while giving artists a platform to showcase their works.

The Myartisreal Podcast is pillar one and sets out to focus on the artist as a person and tell their stories through a narrative format that allows the listener to gain a more deep and more personal understanding of the artist and their works. We believe using this approach has created a unique podcast that covers aspects of each artist often missed in other interview styles.

Curated Exhibitions is pillar two, with curating Jacob relates the process to that of a film director, replacing actors with works of art that come together to tell a complete story for the audience. As of this moment, we are heavily focused on publishing our online exhibitions as an easy and cost-effective way to promote new artists and provide new works to our ever-growing collector base. We hope as these online shows continue we will be able to focus the funds on curating more physical exhibitions.

The last pillar is our blog. For our articles, we like to keep it simple and let the workers do the talking which makes the articles easy to disgust and enjoy while also being informative. This is also where we publish our written interviews with artists which focus more on the artist’s creative process, business skills, and advice to others. We hope that the blog can be a creative resource for all emerging artists to discover more art and learn from their peers.

We want Myartisreal to be the place you go to when you want to find a new artist. We want Myartisreal to be the place you as an artist can come to find support. The art world thrives when we work together and we can only hope that Myartisreal continues to grow and becomes a beacon for all artists looking to make a name for themselves in this competitive world.

Myartisreal Blog

We launched our blog (www.myartisrealmagazine.com) back in 2017 with the interview of some close artist friends. Since then we have set out to release one or more articles each day. With various series of articles such as our ‘look at’ series which shines a spotlight on an artist or artwork and attempts to provide the reader with more information on the artist and what exactly makes them work so noteworthy.

We also feature written interviews and informative articles that showcase various art exhibitions at our close gallery friends around the world.

Submissions

Since our launch, Myartisreal has had over 20k submissions from various artists across the world. We believe in helping artists grow and be discovered, and as much as we would like to share each submission it would be impossible to do so while maintaining a curated page.

Each submission is saved and we will sometimes share works from this file we still want to offer artists the option to promote their works when they need it the most and it’s this reason we offer promotional posts on all our Instagram pages.

Promotional posts are a way for artists to pick the exact artwork, caption, and time to have their works shared. Artists often pay for a promotional post for various reasons, to grow their own personal page, to be seen by galleries and collectors, and promote shows and print releases.

The reason Myartisreal is a better path for growth as an artist compared to other forms of social media promotion is Myartisreal is a trusted platform for finding quality artists and has built over time a dedicated follower base that is already interested in the types of works you are promoting.

I was a little skeptical at first but I was looking to grow my account, after speaking to one of the admins of the myartisreal Instagram page, I felt more comfortable with paying for a promotion. I’ve used Instagram advertising before and had gotten some extra likes on my posts but I didn’t really gain any followers, maybe 5-10 from an advertisement that costed me $30. Unlike other promo accounts, myartisreal seems to have much more active followers and their customer service is fantastic in my opinion. I recently used their promotion services and as of right now, I’ve gained 150 REAL followers in 24 hours. Hoping to use their promotion services again sometime soon so I can get more recognition for my work! - @Naterboyy Collage artist

Jacob Johnson |  Myartisreal Founder – Art Curator

Jacob had no interest in art until he saw the Banksy film “Exit Through the Gift Shop” a street art documentary about Banksy and Mr. Brainwash. After this film, Jacob couldn’t get enough of street art and began to share it on his Instagram page and create art himself. Later he expands his art taste and turned his Instagram account into Myartisreal.

While Jacob has and does make art non of it has been released or sold. He prefers to keep it private while his true passion is curation. To Jacob curation is like directing a film except instead of actors you tell a story through the arrangement and selection of artworks.

Jacob curated his very first art show titled “Papi Chulo” at the contemporary Krause Gallery in New York City. The show featured some of today’s top emerging artists such as John Paul Fauves, Revolue, and CB Hoyo. Jacob was only 18 at the time of curating the show. A year later Jacob would return to Krause Gallery for a second show titled “We Happy Few’ exploring the idea of Happiness and a false sense of it in this age of social media.

The best thing about working with Myartisreal is the fast response and the way that Jacob takes care of the project and finds the best option according to my ideas. He’s always part of my team when I think about serious promotions – @revolue Contemporary artist
